I have been joined by Marc from the band 'Goal Keeper' who has answered some questions about so you can find out about them!
Introduce yourself:
Marc Juliano (Guitarist)
How did you come up with the name Goalkeeper?
Just tossing around names when we first started and we settled on Goalkeeper. Pretty typical "finding band name" story.
How did you all meet?
We all played in local bands throughout the Philadelphia and South Jersey area. I booked shows and that's how I developed a friendship with Ryan and Cody. We played a cover set together because I needed another band for a show. Afterwards, all of our bands broke up, we had fun jamming together, so we decided to start Goalkeeper together.
How would you describe the music you create?
Pop punk
What is your favourite song you have written?
For me, I'd say "Sooner" or "Car Wreck"
You released your first LP ‘I wish I met you sooner’ back in October. What was that experience like?
Amazing. We had an awesome production team and it was incredible to see these songs come to life. It was the first full length for us and we were definitely nervous about how we were going to write enough songs we felt 100% proud and confident in. To see it all come together was amazing!
In December you played 2 holiday shows in Philadelphia and Baltimore. What is your favourite memory you will take away from those gigs?
Selling out Philadelphia for sure. We've played a lot of bigger shows that sold out but we were never the headliner. Anytime we headlined, the shows would be great but this was different. This was one of the first times seeing strangers we didn't know showing up and going nuts. Definitely the best way to end 2022.
What is your dream venue to play and why?
Red Rocks in Colorado. Just a legendary venue!
What has been your biggest career highlight?
The fact that we are here after 6 years. We've gone through so much and have learned so much over this time. Made some mistakes and played some awful sets, but we've always been able to come back from it with the support of our friends, family, and fans. Every year we have been growing in one way or another and it's exciting to see. Hopefully we can keep it up!
What advice would you give to someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Be genuine and push yourself. Expect nothing but embrace every chance you get.
What’s next for you?
A bunch of touring in 2023! Excited for that.
