An Interview with P?nk

I have been joined by Ryan from P?NK who has joined me to answer some questions about their band and upcoming gig on the 14th January 2024!

Welcome to Totally Music would you like to introduce yourself?

Hello! I’m Ryan and I play lead guitar in P?NK, a tribute band to the music and performances of P!NK.

What got you into music?

Bit of a stock answer, but I’ve always had an interest in it and passion for it - since being a kid listening to my Dad’s albums and mixtapes (proper TAPES. Cassette tapes!!) in the car, which is what I think lead me to the guitar and then towards bands and what not. I’ll always remember hearing Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits and it making me want to play like that. Still trying to get there now! Then, of course, there’s the wizard that is Justin Derrico who can do things with a guitar that should be criminal. What a player!

You are doing a gig on the 14th January in Nottingham at Rough trade. Would you like to tell us about the gig?

So it’s our live debut and we’ll be filming there for some promo material. It’s free entry; but encourage that a charity donation is made rather than the cost of the tickets. We’ve got a wonderful support act in Ollie Hayes to get the party started (intentional, not sorry!) and then we’ll be

Why is this gig important?

We’re not naive to thinking we’re the only P!nk tribute band out there, but what this gig will hopefully do is show people that we’re great, and worth spending your time with! We’re so excited and proud of what we’re creating and want to share that with as many people as we can! Life is tough, so the least we can do is invite people down and let them enjoy and feel some great music.

What can people expect from the gig?

I wish we could say some aerials, but Rough Trade couldn’t clear it! Obviously P!nk is such an iconic performer and it matters to us all that we can replicate this as closely as possible. So expect loads of energy, loads of fun, and so many classic songs that are bound to get you up and moving.

If people are interested in coming to the gig where can they buy tickets?

So we’re not charging for the event, it’s completely free, but you should still grab a ticket. They’re available on the DICE app, all our socials, Rough Trade Nottingham have it all on their sites and socials too. Instead of that, we’ll be having a collection on the night for the charity Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS).

If someone is not able to attend the event but would like to make a donation where are they able to donate?

So head on over to https://uksobs.org/ and all the information on how to donate or get involved will be on there!

What’s next for you?

Rehearsals mostly, fine tuning our complete set. We have a private event booked in for later in the year and we’re currently working on getting some more dates in the diary for people to come and have fun with us!
